Earthdance Cebu 2010 is for Peace and the Environment and making ways to be part of the Sinulog Festival 2011 Categories under the aid of Sinulog Foundation of Cebu City. EarthDance Cebu 2010! is expected to draw a large crowd of peace-loving and environment-conscious Cebuanos as it promises two days of fun, music, art, culture, dance, ceremonies, and green awareness to nurture the earth, mind, body and spirit. It will be on September 18-19 at the Family Park in Talamban, Cebu City. CEBU will be among the over 500 venues worldwide for this year’s global synchronized festival for peace and the environment, the EarthDance 2010, on September 18-19 at the Family Park in Talamban, Cebu City.
This momentous event, aligned with the International Day of Peace, will be held simultaneously in 80 countries. In Manila it will be held at the Bantayog ng Mga Bayani Memorial Center.
Conceived in 1996 with a vision to unite the whole world in peace through the universal platform of culture, art, dance and music, Earthdance is now the largest global synchronized music and peace event in the world.
The main highlight in EarthDance 2010 is the link-up of thousands of people around the world participating in a synchronized Prayer for Peace on Sunday the 19th at 7am.
People from all walks of life are invited to the two-day EarthDance Festival which this year bears the theme: “Embracing All Traditions.”
EarthDance Cebu 2010! seeks to harmonize with this global platform to dissolve walls of separation and begin healing the spirit of the land.

Cebu’s most talented musicians and artists will perform for EarthDance 2010
Cebu’s most talented musicians and artists have been invited to perform in this gathering for peace which will be aired live on electronic billboards in Cebu and online over www.earthdance.tv.
Activities lined up for this 32-hour experience include: interfaith prayers, interactive art installations, drumming circle, traditional indigenous healing therapies, fire dancing, early morning tai chi and yoga, children’s creative space, great meditation circle, art gallery, and eco-wellness workshops.
There will also be peace and unity blessings by indigenous spiritual leaders, live DJs, world music performances and ethnic orchestra, healing workshops, rocket stove exhibit, composting and permaculture demonstrations, recyclable materials depot, all-day green market, natural body products to sample, yummy wholesome food and drinks, and much, much more.
EarthDance Cebu 2010! is held in partnership with the Cebu City Council, University of Cebu (UC), and Bigfoot Studios.
The two-day event is free of charge during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for the Dance Party on Saturday night are pegged at Php75 (Php50 for students) and available at Kukuk’s Nest in Lahug and the Community Extension Services and Development (CESDEV) office at University of Cebu main campus among other outlets.
Ayala Center Cebu to Family Park Bicycle Rally!
A bike rally starting from the Ayala Center up to Family Park is also being cooked up as a prelude to the festivities.
“We are currently organizing for an electric jeepney, or E-Jeepney, in which Mayor Mike Rama can lead the bicycle rally from Ayala Mall to Family Park, where the mayor will officially open the event,” says Festival director Geoff “JahFe” Holland.
The Green Guide to Cebu as well as the new Environmental Alliance in Cebu will be both officially launched during the EarthDance Festival.

EarthDance 2010 Volunteers and UC Students for Guadalupe River Clean-up.
Aside from celebrating Mother Earth and World Peace, organizers and participants of EarthDance Cebu 2010! will go to Barangay Sapangdako on Sept. 11 together with students from UC and several volunteers to help clean up the head of Guadalupe River and sort out the garbage for recycling.
Organizers, spearheaded by Sister Sandra from UC-CESDEV, plan a long-term clean-up effort for the river which includes tree-planting. Interested to join in this sanitation drive may ring JahFe at 09172767812.
“We will see the largest gathering of environment, community development, sustainable technology, organic farming, and other NGOs together with government agencies and green business that Cebu City has ever seen,” JahFe said.
Proceeds of Cebu EarthDance 2010! will go to the Cebu City Task Force on Street Children and the Barangay Sapangdako Association of Women (BSAW) for the rehabilitation of the Guadalupe River.

VISPOP'S SHOUT OUT TO SONGWRITERS: “BISAYAA UY!”
Cebu City, Cebu – Cebuano songs are definitely in this year, with Artist Ko and Tsinelas Inc. inviting all songwriters to join the newest Cebuano songwriting competition, VISPOP. Taking on the ambivalent tagline "Bisayaa Uy!", VISPOP aims to alleviate the current state of Cebuano music on radio by introducing a more professional and competitive playlist of new Cebuano songs. Event organizers place great emphasis on VISPOP as being a campaign rather than just a competition. The campaign includes educational opportunities in the form of songwriting workshops and symposiums wherein possible entrants can hone and professionalize their songwriting skills.
Campaign rules and entry forms may be downloaded at vispop.multiply.com. Entries may be emailed to visayanpop@gmail.com with the following as attachments: a scanned duly accomplished entry form in .jpeg format, lyrics sheet in .doc format, 3” x 5” photos of the songwriters in .jpeg format and an mp3 file of the entry song. Entries may also be hand-delivered or mailed to Outpost Restobar, 976B Veteran’s Drive, Lahug, Cebu City 6000. Deadline of submission is on August 14, 2010. There will be no extensions of the deadline. Entries that are submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
The campaign will culminate on October 30, 2010 for the Finals Night at Saint Theresa’s College Auditorium. The six chosen finalists will perform their winning songs alongside Cebu’s finest musicians and performers.
"We are looking for good Cebuano songs that can break into current radio airplay,”, says project manager Jude Gitamondoc. “Songs that have both a hook and a heart, songs that are entertaining, and yet are also substantial in their theme and approach. Basically, just good Cebuano music we can all be proud of."
VISPOP also prides itself as having the endorsement of many local celebrities such Born Diva Raki Vega, MC Rey of Brownian Method and Missing Filemon frontman Insoy Niñal.
There will be six VISPOP Carrier Singles that will help promote VISPOP on Radios, 2 of them are "OKRA" (Okay Ra) by Stagecrwes Vocal Rommel Tuico and "We Will Rise Again" by Raki Vega.
VISPOP is organized by ARTIST KO Artists & Musicians Marketing Cooperative, a community-based organization run by musicians, artists and entrepreneurs in the creative field, in cooperation with Tsinelas Foundation, Incorporated, a non-government, not-for-profit organization that gives educational assistance to poor students in mountain barangays and depressed areas in Cebu.

RAKI VEGA
Even before pursuing a singing career in Manila, Cebuana songbird Raki Vega was already a local musical darling.
At 8, she was already the ultimate performer, singing in family reunions where relatives would even “pay” her to perform. As she hit her teens, Raki became part of the school choir and joined various amateur singing contests and theatrical productions. Later, she graduated into doing corporate jingles for local establishments which then earned her the moniker “Cebuana Jingle Queen.”
After college, Raki became a voice teacher at the Asian Academy in Cebu. This eventually opened opportunities for the songbird to become an interpreter in the Cebu Popular Festival in 2001 where she placed third, and in 2002 where she placed first.
One of her memorable competitions would be the Sound of Human World songwriting tilt. Held in Taiwan, Raki bested interpreters from 20 countries by clinching the Grand Prize for the composer and the People’s Choice Awards and Best in Singing citation for herself.
Then came “Born Diva.” Catapulting above a hundred auditionees, then later, 16 finalists, the “Classic Diva” was declared grand prize winner of ABS CBN’s “Born Diva” reality-TV show, earning the title “Ultimate Born Diva.”
After “Born Diva,” Raki then conquered the theater scene by playing the lead character ‘Ti Moune’ in “Once On This Island”—a Tony nominated musicale set in the Caribbean Islands.
In 2008, Raki signed up with Star Records. Among her projects was the theme song of ABS CBN’s hit series “Lobo” as well as two tracks of TV host Boy Abunda’s “Love Life” album. Raki was also grand finalist in the 2008 World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood. She also became the endorser of NGenius and Clara International beauty products. Raki is now being managed by STAGES.
After her big win at the 2009 Awit Awards, Raki and her management company are currently in negotiations for more definitive projects this 2010.

THE RISING
22 Tango Records is proud to be assisting the local promotion and distribution of Raki Vega’s amazing new single “We Will Rise Again”. The song is written and composed by award-winning songwriter Jude Gitamondoc. Both decided to endeavor on this project to inspire hope and restore optimism among calamity-stricken Filipinos who are now on the verge of electing a new set of leaders to govern the nation. The song throws a lot of encouragement for the country regardless of who wins in the elections. It is a reminder that the future does not lie on the candidates and politicians but in the PEOPLE and the role they play in nation-building.
In Raki’s own words, ‘The title speaks for itself. It was so inspiring that I had to do something about it.’ So, Jude and Raki put together a set of musicians to participate in the production. Of course, the main input of the musical arrangement started with sound engineer and arranger Jad Bantug who put together a mix of melodies that truly support the core message of the song. And the connecting factor of it all was the “voice”, one of the best voices in the nation, that voice we simply call Raki Vega.
At this point, after hearing the track, 22 Tango Records believe that Raki Vega is the true inspirational singer of our time. And we believe that this personal effort of hers to promote her music sends out a message that we do not need traditional record label, network TV culture and artist representation to dictate our musical journey. It tells us that we can work with them but, definitely, NOT for them.
The single also boasts of a music video that is produced and directed by award-winning world-class film makers Ruel Antipuesto and Tessa Villegas. The video has a nationalistic flair and it shows a few snippets of the challenges of our nation as well as victorious moments that all Filipinos should be proud of.

Kenny Wizz, Michael Jackson's stand-in performer, will Tour to Cebu with The Michael Jackson band, Dancers and Choreographer, April 30, 2010-Friday at the CICC-Cebu International Convention Center for The Michael Jackson Tribute Concert-The World Tour.
After Michael Jackson's sudden death last year and the discontinued Grand Performance for Michael Jackson's "This is It!" Concert which was scheduled to happen last year but sadly disappear when The King of Pop bids his last goodbye. Kenny Wiz with the other guys behind Michael Jackson's Performance Concert and Rehearsals will try to bring the vibe back in Cebu.

It's a Day for Mother Earth. Cebu got numerous Events for Earth Day this year. Picking highlight for Aboitizlands' Persimmon Plus at Mabolo, Cebu. Events starts today till Saturday April 24, 2010. Their Earth Day Celebration will extend to Activities like Earth Day Bazaar and Earth Day Music Jam that would be happening tomorrow, Friday April 23, 2010.

Another Creative Innovative Events that would glitter your Night skies of Summer! This May 1- 8, 2010, Cebu embarks on a new celebration that aims to draw in once again on domestic and foreign tourism. The CEBU FESTIVAL 2010 hosts a diverse and exciting lineup of activities that will be held at the new South Reclaimed Properties (SRP) of the City of Cebu.

The Cebu Festival will host a series of sports events such as : Motocross, Kart race, Cock Derby, Drag Race, Flag Football, Softball and baseball matches, Soccer, Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, Touch Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee and a sundown marathon. A series of social activities such as: Nightly Variety shows and concerts, night bazaars, food bazaars, an agricultural – agro fair, an auto show and more will be there too!
The CEBU FEST is also venue to Cebu’s attempt to the Guinness World Record on the most number of rockets ( fireworks) fired in one time. Scheduled for May 8, one hundred twenty thousand rockets will blast off at the SRP grounds. And to top off the CEBU FEST activities, a grand fireworks show will be held on May 8 at the SRP grounds.
The Fest is expected to draw a big crowd of participants, contenders and spectators.
