It's getting grander and larger, the McDonald’s Grand Halloween Family Fun Day in J Mall Cebu was well attended by Families and friends celebrating Halloween & family bonding time with Ronald McDonald's and friends. Participating kids who joined the terrific Trick O'Treat received their cape, pumpkin bag, and a hat to complete their overall Halloween look! They also enjoyed their Happy Meal with 1PC Chicken McDo meal.


Participants were treated on exciting activities such as the Magical Kingdom Show and played games in booths such as “Pretty in Paint,” “Mr. Bouncy Pumpkin,” “Fix Mr. Skeleton,” Eye Can Shoot,” Minute to Win it,” “Pumpkin Relay,” and “Tic Tac Toe.” Mommies and Daddies also received treats from participating products with their own booths. The Grand Halloween Family Fun Day aims to promote children’s well-being through fun and enriching activities that will trigger their creativity and sense of play, and help them make new friends.

One of the booths on site was all about the upcoming McDo Stripes Run that will happen on December 3 at Garden Bloc, IT Park Cebu City. It will be the first Mcdo Stripes Run in Cebu.

Registration is ongoing, McDonald's Stripes Run is an annual family-friendly event that aims at helping children learn how to read. Metro Manila and Cebu runners will get a chance to don their red and white socks in support of children’s literacy. The proceeds of McDonald’s Stripes Run 2016 will go to one of Ronald McDonald House Charities’ flagship program, Ronald McDonald Read To Learn. In partnership with the Department of Education, this program aims to help Grade 1 and 2 public school students improve their literacy skills.

To register, simply fill-up the registration form available at select McDonald’s stores. You can also sign-up online at mcdostripesrun.com.ph, you can pay the registration fee at select McDonald’s stores. Each race kit includes a pair of the iconic red and white striped socks, a singlet, a race bib, and a stub for a free McDonald’s breakfast meal at the venue.

McDo Stripes Run categories includes Kiddie Stripes, Young Stripes, 3K Stripes, Team Stripes, 5K Stripes and 10K Stripes. Booths and activities await the entire family at McDonald’s Stripes Run: Run for Reading in Manila and Cebu.

The McDonald’s 2015 Coca-Cola Signature Glass Collection posted at Cebu Events Blog

A new Learning facility supervised by Lasallian Schools Supervision Office (LASSO) will rise at The Mactan Newtown. This follows the successful formula of ’live-work-play-learn’ concept by Megaworld in McKinley Hill Township in Taguig City. The new world-class Filipino academic institution to be built in the Mactan Newtown is a big boost for the establishment of a formal educational facility, where parents can bring their children in the best school without leaving the community.

Noli D. Hernandez, President, Megaworld Cebu Properties, Inc. in a press briefing says “This proves that the new learning institution inside The Mactan Newtown is a testament that
we highly value the ’live-work-play-learn’ lifestyle township concept pioneered by Megaworld, having a school with reputable brand will not only help build credibility for the township, but more importantly, it will help improve the quality of education provided within the region”

The School is set to open its school year in 2016-2017 and initially offers primary level education. The school’s target market focused mainly on families, relatives, and friends with children living inside The Mactan Newtown’s residential communities such as 8 Newtown Boulevard, OnePacific Residence, and One Manchester Place and nearby areas.

McDonald’s is looking to hire over 300 student-crew/grantees in Cebu this year through Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) in partnership with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), establishing its progress and success in the employment of underprivileged students and out of school youth in Cebu. SPES beneficiaries’ responsibilities are maintaining the cleanliness of restaurant areas, proper preparation of beverages and desserts, and providing assistance to local store marketing team during events or McCelebrations held at McDonald’s restaurants.

Present during the press conference were representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Jessica Uy and Atty. Jose B Ogang; McDonald’s Philippines Vice President for Human Capital Group Chona Torre and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Fidel Magno. Each representative discussed the progress of SPES and its success rate in Cebu, key criteria for hiring and screening, and day-to-day training programs that SPES students undergo with McDonald’s.

Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) enables employment for the students in partner private sectors, where McDonald’s Philippines has offered over 3,600 slots for students to be crew members across the country.

“We at McDonald’s understand the need for programs like these – we want to help in providing a brighter future for the youth, especially for those who find it difficult to do so,” says Chona Torre, “With SPES, McDonald’s Philippines and DOLE are bound by the common goal of giving the Filipino youth labor opportunities that enable them to fund their education and have a more positive tomorrow to look forward to.”

In 2012, lose to 100 students have undergone SPES in McDonald’s Restaurants in Cebu, twenty-two of which are now undergoing training to be regular employees of McDonald’s due to their excellent performance. Each student will be with McDonald's for 52 days, earning the salary that can help support their education

McDonald’s Philippines and DOLE made their partnership official in March 2012, following Republic Act Nos. 7323 and 9547’s call to encourage students to pursue their education through employment. Subsequent to these laws is RA 8759, creating the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) to facilitate employment of the beneficiaries, located in capital towns of provinces, key cities, and other strategic locations.

This year, McDonald's hiring of Student Crews will be done in three batches starting March to December.
